Habakkuk 2:14 “For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.”

Ephesians 3:9-10 “…and to make all see …fellowship of the mystery, to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,…”

 vs. 43 “A deep sense of awe came over them all,…”  The Body of Christ doing life together has a significant impact the community.Reverence, deep respect.

Councel At Jerusalem

Acts 15:16 “After this I WILL RETURN, and will BUILD AGAIN the TABERNACLE OF DAVID, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up.”    

Amos 9:11 “IN THAT DAY will I raise up the TABERNACLE OF DAVID that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will BUILD it as in the days of old.” 

Amos 9:13 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine,…”

The Tabernacle of Moses  — It showed the perfection needed to come before the Presence of God. No sin. No illegitimacy.  

The Tabernacle of David  —  It showed the mercy of God. Faith in God’s promise and His Character. Makes a way so all would have equal access to God’s Presence.

Isaiah 16:5 “In mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

Charles Finney (Revival Lectures)   “…the primary cause of deception in surrendered believers may be condensed into one word, passivity;…Thus he falls into inertia which opens the way deception and invasion.”

Acts 11:19-21 “Now those who were scattered after the persecution … when they had come to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus …a great number believed” 

Church began in Jerusalem but matured in Antioch.

Two Types Of Military Bases

1. Logistics Bases   well secured – safe territory    2. Fire Bases    front lines – taking territory

Acts 13:1-14:28  —  The Anatomy Of A Mission Trip

“As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’”

Apostolic assignment.

1. Place Of Preparation 

“Now in the church…” vs.1    Paul 17 years before he was sent into God’s call on his life.

2. Place Of Commissioning

“…they put their hands on them and sent them away.” vs.3   An impartation and a sending.

1 Timothy 1:18 “…according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,…”

3. Led By Holy Spirit

“…being sent out by the Holy Spirit…” vs.4      Always follow the Holy Spirit!

Acts 16:7 “…they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.”

4. The Word Is Proclaimed

“…they preached the Word of God…”  vs.5   “… Gentiles heard … were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.” vs. 48

5. They Minister As A Team

“They also had John as their assistant.”  vs.5

6. Confront Demonic Opposition 

“But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.” vs.6 

7. Operate In The Miraculous

“Instantly there fell upon him a mist and a darkness,…” vs.11

“…the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word …granting signs and wonders to be done 

by their hands.”  14:3

1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the kingdom of God is not in word (Logus) but in power (Dunamis).”

Romans 15:8 “For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed,…”

8. They Take New Territory

vs.12 (Message) “When the governor saw what happened, he became a believer,” 

vs.44 “almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.”   

9. They Are Persecuted

Acts 14:19-20 “…they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead … the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went 

into the city.”

10. They Return And Testify

Acts 14:27  “…they gathered the church together and declared all that God had accomplished with them.”
