“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
Pivot:— fixed point supporting something which turns or balances.
The Unchangeable in relationship to the Changeable.
Mark 6:45-56 Message
45-46 As soon as the meal was finished, Jesus insisted that the disciples get in the boat and go on ahead across to Bethsaida while he dismissed the congregation. After sending them off, he climbed a mountain to pray.
47-49 Late at night, the boat was far out at sea; Jesus was still by himself on land. He could see his men struggling with the oars, the wind having come up against them. At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came toward them, walking on the sea. He intended to go right by them. But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and screamed, scared to death.
50-52 Jesus was quick to comfort them: “Courage! It’s me. Don’t be afraid.” As soon as he climbed into the boat, the wind died down. They were stunned, shaking their heads, wondering what was going on. They didn’t understand what he had done at the supper. None of this had yet penetrated their hearts.
53-56 They beached the boat at Gennesaret and tied up at the landing. As soon as they got out of the boat, word got around fast. People ran this way and that, bringing their sick on stretchers to where they heard he was. Wherever he went, village or town or country crossroads, they brought their sick to the marketplace and begged him to let them touch the edge of his coat—that’s all. And whoever touched him became well.
The devil sends winds of adversity. He tries to take your focus off of God and His word.
Winds can cause total exhaustion and lack of focus. We tend to overcompensate.
Your mind has to process 100 million bits of information per second. It filters out about 98%
The remaining 2% is analyzed and your consciousness is presented with an average of 7 bits per second.
Observations From Text:
1. Jesus Made Them Go
“…made His disciples get into the boat and go…” vs. 45
“Anagkazo”:– to drive, compel or constrain, by force, threats
2. Devil Will Oppose You
“…straining at rowing, for the wind was against them.” vs 48
Tries to force you out of your destiny. Uses windy words!
The battle is never for the present it is about your future.
3. You’re Never Out Of Sight
“Then He saw them…” vs 48
His eye is on the sparrow… Nothing can separate you from His love. You never leave His hand.
4. He Comes Unexpectedly
“…fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea…” vs 48
Not when you expected. Not how you expected.
5. He Always Engages You
“…and would have passed them by.” vs 48
“intending to come alongside them.” (J. B. Phillips)
parerchomai:—to come near, come forward, to arrive
Luke 24:15
“So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.”
Exodus 33:19
“Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
1 Kings 19:11-13
“Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;……and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Isaiah 16:1-6 (MSG)
‘The Message of God, the Master, to Jerusalem: You were born (First Birth) and bred among Canaanites. Your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.“‘On the day you were born your umbilical cord was not cut, you weren’t bathed and cleaned up, you weren’t rubbed with salt, you weren’t wrapped in a baby blanket. No one cared a fig for you …
No one did one thing to care for you tenderly in these ways. You were thrown out into a vacant lot and left there, dirty and unwashed—a newborn nobody wanted.“‘And then I came by. I saw you all miserable and bloody. Yes, I said to you, lying there helpless and filthy, “Live! … And you did. You grew up.”
6. Experience The Miraculous
“Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” vs 50 (NKJV)
“Take heart! I AM! Stop being alarmed and afraid.” (AMP)
If it’s over your head it’s under His feet!
I am whatever you need! Speak to the storm!
7. Realize Your Destiny
“…immediately the people recognized Him, …And as many as touched Him were made well.” 54-56
Overcome your storm. People will see Jesus. You will release the Kingdom.
