Day 7 of 10 Days of Prayer

Day 7 of 10 Days Of Prayer
By: Pastor Karl Thomas

Community Is Not Optional

Small groups start on the 21st of September.  You need to be in one. Here is some encouragement for you to engage.

“Communion is strength; solitude is weakness. Alone, the fine old beech yields to the blast and lies prone on the meadow. In the forest, supporting each other, the trees laugh at the hurricane. The sheep of Jesus flock together. The social element is the genius of Christianity.” – C.H. Spurgeon

On the day of Pentecost, the church went through exponential growth. They grew from possibly 120 people to 3,120 in one day, and then it says that they continued to add more people daily.
Last feast to be fulfilled is Tabernacles … HARVEST!

“…they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes…”
Acts 2:42-47
“…but have taught you publicly and from house to house.”    Acts 20:20

Moses needed small groups:
Deuteronomy 1:1-18
“And I spoke to you at that time, saying: ‘I alone am not able to bear you … How can I alone bear your problems and your burdens and your complaints? Choose wise, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.”

3 Basics Of Small Groups
Fellowship
“And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone;…”  Gen 2:18
Ecc. 4:9-11 / Matt. 18:20
Basic need of mankind is to belong.

Function
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”  John 13:34
You can’t fulfill all the one another’s if you don’t connect.

Formation
“As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”  Pr. 27:17
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Pr. 27:6
“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.”  1 Corinthians 14:1

Small groups are a great place to exercise your spiritual gifts.
Blessings and encouraging others.
Practical bible application and testimony.

On March 10, 1974, Lt. Hiroo Onada was the last World War II Japanese soldier to surrender.
“Nothing pleasant happened in the 29 years in the jungle.” Onada  (1974 Newsweek Magazine)
Self-imposed isolation is not God’s plan. You need experience the joy and fellowship of others in a small group!

PRAYER DIRECTIVES:

  1. Thank God for the believers at Impact.
  2. Pray that they would all feel connected and would make the effort to join a small group.
  3. Pray against the enemy who would try to isolate and bring strife.
  4. Pray for the Toronto BlueJays … That would make Ps. Karl Happy!
  5. Pray for the manifestation of acceleration in the Spirit over everything God is doing among us today … More Salvations … More Healing … More Freedom!!!

5 words “Get in a small group” it’s the only way to form authentic faith … Can’t fulfill all the one another directives in scripture without it … I pray you get out and get connected like never before .., come on … You can do it!!!

I pray for each and every person & family & newcomer to Impact Church. Thank you Lord that we are free to come together in church meetings, conferences but especially in small groups. In my experience it is a great way to lift up your name in praise, learn more of you and about specific subject, that I have chosen each season, from several offerings. Looking back. I have come to know (not just meet) more people in a small group and special bonds have been formed. Let God arise and the enemy be scattered. Bind us together in love, Lord.
