Day 5 of 10 Days Of Prayer January 2025

Sermon — “Intentional Purposeful Living” — 2025 — D Karl Thomas

Intentional:— {adj} done with awareness; deliberately, consciously, or on purpose.

Ephesians 5:17-18 AMP “Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is. … but be filled with the [Holy] Spirit and constantly guided by Him.”

Ephesians 5:17-18  Phillips “Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility, not as men who do not know the meaning and purpose of life but as those who do. Make the best use of your time, despite all the difficulties of these days. Don’t be vague but firmly grasp what you know to be the will of God.”

John 5:19 “Then Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.’”

John 18:3-11 NLT “The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a contingent {a military cohort

the tenth part of legion 600} of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove.

Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked. “Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied.

“I am he,” Jesus said. (Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.)

As Jesus said ‘I am he, ‘they all drew back and fell to the ground!  Once more he asked them, “Who are you looking for?” And again they replied, ‘Jesus the Nazarene.’’I told you that I am he,” Jesus said.

(Mark 14:51-52 “One young man … When the mob tried to grab him,  he slipped out of his shirt and ran away naked.)

‘And since I am the one you want, let these others go.’ He did this to fulfill his own statement: ‘I did not lose a single one of those you have given me.

Then Simon Peter drew a sword and slashed off the right ear of Malchus, the high priest’s slave. But Jesus said to Peter, ‘Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup of suffering the Father has given me?’”

Luke 22:51 “But Jesus said, ‘No more of this.’ And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.”

Mathew 26:53-54  “Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”

Philippians 3:13-14 “I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead.

I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.”

Regret:– sorrow over an unfulfilled ambition.

Second most expressed emotion is regret. Second only to love.

I wish … _____________

If only … ______________

1. Release — Forget

Time to declutter your life.

What do you need to UNPACK right now?

What is not going to be a part of NEXT?

2. Reflect — Focus

Meditate on God’s word.

Push back on unhealthy mindsets. Root out.

What went well today?

What was hard today?

Where did I win? What did I learn?

What am I grateful for today?

You don’t just look in the mirror!

A mirror demands action.

You don’t leave until you are done.

You make changes because the seasons of life are connected.

James 1:22-25  “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

3. Resolve — Fasten

Decide firmly on a course of action.

Acts 26:19  “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision”,

Acts 20:24 “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

Let’s get INTENTIONAL!!!

Release    Reflect    Resolve

I am READY for what’s NEXT!

JOKE

There was a pastor who had a parrot. All the parrot would say was, “Let’s pray, let’s pray.” The pastor tried to teach him to say other things but to no avail. He learned that one of his deacons had a parrot. Thet parrot would only say, “Let’s kiss. Let’s kiss.” So the pastor decided to invite the deacon and his parrot over to his house. When the deacon arrived they put the parrots into the same cage to see what would happen. The deacon’s parrot said, “Let’s kiss, let’s kiss.” The pastor’s parrot said, “Thank you, Lord. My prayers have been answered.”

There’s great power in prayer.
