Mark 1:14-15  (NKJV) “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel (Good News!).’Join the Insurgence!!!

Mark 1:14-15   (NLT) “Later on, after John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News. ‘The time promised by God has come at last!’ he announced. ‘The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!’”

Mark1:15   “καὶ λέγων ὅτι πεπλήρωται ὁ καιρὸς καὶ ἤγγικεν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ μετανοεῖτε καὶ πιστεύετε ἐν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ”     “…of your sins …” is not in the original Greek manuscript.

A.T. Robertson “Broadus used to say that this is the worst translation in the New Testament. The trouble is that the English word “repent” means “to be sorry again” from the Latin repoenitet. John did not call on the people to be sorry, but to change (think afterwards) their mental attitudes This is John’s great word and it has been hopelessly mistranslated.”

REPENT:– Compound Word —Redo your penance over and over again, feel sorry again.
Metanoeo (met-an-o-eh’-o):– compound of after and thought; to think differently afterwards, that is, reconsider Changed mind in light of new evidence.

Romans 2:4 “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance (change your mind)?”

PICTURE — (VICTOR FRANKL— Mans Search For Meaning)  “ Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

1. Find You’re WHY?     2. Know you have the freedom to choose your reaction to any situation.
3. Realize that success and happiness are by-products of the pursuit of Your WHY.

The Meaning Of Life.
Proximal meaning … the immediate things around me. I have to go to work. Food, Clothes Mortgage, Kids,…
Ultimate meaning … why am I doing stuff at all…,what’s it all about?  Self actualization!

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Make your WHY the Kingdom Of God and happiness and success will be the by-product of your clear free choice.

Isaiah 9:6-7 “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!”

Daniel 2:44 “During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.”

Revelation 11:15 “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”
Romans 11:36 “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”

Matthew 11:11-13 “I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is! And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it. For before John came, all the prophets and the law of Moses looked forward to this present time.” (KINGDOM)
KINGDOM: Ruler  — King —  Not voted in.    Realm  — Domain — Sphere where rule King  has been embraced
Revelation  — Culture —  Kings word shapes the ways and values of the citizens.

Definition: Romans 14:17 “… for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness (Ruler) and peace (REALM) and joy (Revelation) in the Holy Spirit.”     Kingdom of God is in the Holy Ghost

Kingdom:—We are not trying to make the world a better place, we are the better place (church) a called out community (Jesus is building His church) an alternative civilization that spills over organically (salt, light and love) confronting and healing the brokenness around it!!!

1. The Ruler   Jesus Is The King! By conquest!
Psalm 24:8-10  “Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. … Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah”

John 18:36-37 “‘My kingdom is not from here. Pilate therefore said to Him, ‘Are You a king then?’  Jesus answered, ‘You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.’”

2. The Realm   God wants a kingdom of priests, not just priests in the kingdom.
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”

2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is (Spirit of the Lord is accepted as Lord), there is liberty.”

Matthew 13 The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven are two parables with the same point: What begins very small will continue to work …until it will fill everything in every way … a gradual but thorough expression of God’s reign and rule.
31 “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed,…”
33 “The kingdom of heaven is  like leaven,…”

3. The Revelation
Acts 2:28 “You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.”
James 2:8 “If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’”

Matthew 16:19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth  must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth  must be what is already loosed in heaven.”

A gift of His rule, ability, glory, influence – SPIRIT!
Acts 1:3 “He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.”
The Kingdom of God was the theme of Jesus’ last teachings.

Acts 1:8But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.”

Luke 12:32 “Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom!”

God wants a kingdom of priests, not just priests in the kingdom.
Revelation 1:4-5 “All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.  He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.”
