Sermon Series: “Exponential” — Sermon: “Rags To Results”

Deuteronomy 6:10-11 “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land … to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant..”

Romans 15:4 “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”

1 Samuel 1:6-7 “And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.”

Peninah:— pearl, irritation, provoker.

Hannah:—Grace, to be favoured.

Peninah provokes Grace to become fruitful and bring the purpose of God into manifestation .

Psalm 78:40-42 “How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, And grieved Him in the desert!

Yes, again and again they tempted God, And limited the Holy One of Israel.

They did not remember His power: The day when He redeemed them from the enemy.”

Hannah (GRACE) gave birth to a new generation (Samuel:— The Lord Hears and Answers) that was aligned with the voice of God and led the people of God into a revelation of Kingdom life.

Sometimes you don’t know how special you are.

Become complacent because you don’t know that you are exceptional.

God won’t let you be satisfied with less than what He has for you.

God’s dream wrapped in flesh.

“God never works anything independently of you that concerns your life”    David Yonggi Cho

Are you annoyed enough … are you provoked enough to demand change!!

1 Samuel 1:9

“So Hannah arose…”  (NKJV)

“Hannah stood up.”    (NIV)

“Hannah went over…”  (LB)

“So Hannah rose up…”  (KJV)

“Then she pulled herself together…”   (Message)

The Provoking Causes Rage

Uncomfortable — Agitated

Restless — Discontented

Reflecting — Examining

This is not okay.

I demand change.

The Rage Becomes A Cry

1 Samuel 1:13 “…only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.”

Proverbs 27:7 “A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”

The Cry Brings Alignment

1 Samuel 1:17 “Then Eli answered and said, ‘Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.’”

The Alignment Brings Results

1 Samuel 18:18-20 “And she said, ‘Let your maidservant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad. Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord …

… and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her.  So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, ‘Because I have asked for him from the Lord.’”

Isaiah 54:1 “Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord.”

1 Samuel 3:1 “Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.”

1 Samuel 3:19 “And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to  the ground.”

Joshua 18:3 “And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?”

Psalm 2:8 “Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.”
