PIVOT Series# 5, All About That Grace

The Unchangeable in relationship to the Changeable.

John 1:16-17 (NLT) “From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. (Grace for Grace) For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.”
John 1:16 (AMP) “For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].”
Matthew 12:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Acts 20:24 “The ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”
Paul uses the word “grace” more than any other writer i the Bible. (144 times)
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Ephesians 1:6-7 “…to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…”
Romans 5:1-2 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Message “We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.”
Romans 5:17 “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:20 “Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,…”
Huperperisseuo: hyper — where we get the english word “hyper” and Perisseuo — where we get the english word “abound” Biblical grace is Hyper Abounding Grace!
Galatians 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
Romans 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
Grace (charis):– good will, loving-kindness, favour.
The merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles virtues.

“We will always call it, not only grace, but free grace, to make it clear that God gives his grace freely to sinners,—the undeserving and ungodly. He gives it without any condition …
… If, in one place, he says that he requires repentance, in another place he promises it; if he demands faith at one moment, he bestows it at another. So grace is always God’s free gift, and that suits a man who has not a penny in his pocket.
2 Samuel 9
“‘Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?’ …Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.”
Jonathan’s Son: “Mephibosheth”:– exterminate the idol, to shatter the shameful thing. “Merib Baal” :– contend against baal.
“Machir” :– to sell yourself, sold out. “Lo-debar” :– barren place, not a pasture.
In shame, sold out, and surrendered to a life of barrenness.
5 Grace Observations
1. The Fall Caused Crippling
2 Samuel 4:4 “…he fell, and became lame…”
In Adam humanity fell and has lost any ability to help itself.
2. A Word To Keep
1Samuel 20:15-16 “…thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever:”
He has a covenant to fulfill.
3. Love Is Expressed
1 Samuel 9:5 “Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.” The place of no bread.
John 3:16 “For God so loved…”
4. Qualified By The Love of Another
2 Samuel 9:7 “… shew thee kindness for Jonathan…”
Ephesians 1:4-5 “…that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself.”
5. Restoration Is The Purpose
2 Samuel 9:7 “for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
Ephesians 2:6 “…made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”
Come and put your broken feet under my table!!!
Restored Position – A Son
Restored Property – Heir of All Things
Restored Power – Ability to Rule
