Christmas 2020 — We need to embrace this lesson from the first Christmas.
God’s plan is breaking through!!!
Just when it seems all your plans are breaking down.
Mary is planning her wedding and:
Luke 1:35 “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Joseph’s fiancee says She’s pregnant.
Matthew 1:19 “Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.”
Roman occupiers demand taxes:
Luke 2:4-5 “So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went … to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem,… to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
Joseph forgot to book with Expedia.
Luke 2:7 “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
The King wants to kill your child:
Matthew 2:13 “Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, ‘Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, … for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.’”
Mark 10 15-16 “‘Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little childwill by no means enter it.’ And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.”
Christmas 2020 will deepen these two childlike qualities in my life:
1. Dependance
Father I completely trust you.
2. Wonder
Father I expect to be wowed!
God’s Plan Is Breaking Through!
Luke 2:10-11 “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
