Coming to this building was a challenge. Joe Bowes a leader form Australia who I had know former knowledge of came out of no where to encourage us to go ahead.
After 2 1/2 years of ministry in Galilee, Jesus is now transitioning to Jerusalem. Through tangible and miraculous experiences He’s been trying prepare His followers. Renew their minds!!!
Mark 8:17 “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?”
Mark 8:15 “Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.
Pharisees — Form of religion without power.
Herod — political system and humanist platform – Mans reason Negative influence on the mind.
Mark 8:21 “So He said to them, ‘How is it you do not understand?‘”
Mark 8:29, 32 “Peter answered and said to Him, ‘You are the Christ.'” — “Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.” He gets it — He lost it Double minded …unstable … not perceiving
Mark 8:33 “But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.'”
The transfiguration is mentioned in each of the synoptic gospels.
It is one of the most significant and supernatural stories in the New Testament. It was an important event then and its lessons are still incredibly relevant for today. SEE HIM … HEAR HIM
Jesus Glory revealed …. Moses Elijah … Father speaking Shekinah glory cloud!!!
Transfiguration:— (Metamorphoo) to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure, express what was really there, what was inside came into manifestation, revealed who he really was!!!
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Mark 9:1-13
“And He said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.’ This precedes transfiguration in all 3 Gospels.
Now after six days Jesus took Peter (Stone), James (Replaced By), and John (grace), and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them.
His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
Luke 9:31 “They spoke about his departure (Death burial and resurrection), which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.”
PICTURE OF ROMANS 3:20-22 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law (MOSES) and the Prophets (Elijah) , 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe. For there is no difference;”
Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid.
And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My belovedSon. Hear Him!” Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves. His baptism 1400’ below sea level … here 10,000’ above sea level
Seeing and hearing Jesus alone is your new operating system
Now as they came down from the mountain, He commanded them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, till the Son of Man had risen from the dead. So they kept this word to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant. Difficultly grasping His resurrection
And they asked Him, saying, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” Then He answered and told them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and restores all things.
And how is it written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things and be treated with contempt? But I say to you that Elijah has also come, and they did to him whatever they wished, as it is written of him.”
Everyone ran to Jesus … His glory was attractional … Moses glory brought condemnation it repelled and then faded away!!!
You go up the mountain and have an encounter with the Heavenly Father so that you are equipped to respond to the brokenness of the humans fathers.
Mark 9:23-24 “Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
2 Corinthians 3:7-18 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as [a]by the Spirit of the Lord.
This experience had a deep’ lasting impact on Peter!
2 Peter 1:15-18 Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my [a]decease.16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18 And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.” This event grounded me in my service of Christ!!!
