Imagination + Articulation = Manifestation WE ARE MOVING!!!
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Wrote that while he was in jail chained between two soldiers.
Sir Isaac Newton -1665 London
Had to submit to social distancing from Cambridge. The year-plus he was away is referred to as his annus mirabilis, the “year of wonders.” Newton returned to Cambridge in 1667, in 6 months, he was made a fellow; 2 years later, a professor.
William Shakespeare — 1606 When a pandemic closed down the theatre Shakespeare wrote some of his best work, King Lear, Macbeth, and Antony and Cleopatra.
These are times of great opportunity.
The strong advance and the weak take flight.
My plan is not to just survive but to thrive.
God always shows Himself strong in lockdowns.
Moses at the Red Sea: “Go Forward!”
David at Ziklag: “Pursue and recover all”
Daniel Life Threatened: “Opened the window and prayed!”
Paul and Silas in Jail: “Gave Thanks!”
Philippians 2:19-22
“I hope to send Timothy to you soon for a visit. Then he can cheer me up by telling me how you are getting along. I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare … Like a son with his father, he has served with me in preaching the Good News.”
2 Timothy 1:6-7
“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
1 Timothy 1:18
“Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles.”
2 Timothy 2:2
“And the things that you have heard (Proximity) from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men (Values) who will be able to teach others also (Consistency) .”
Acts 16:3 “Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him …”
He went to the most intimate place and caused pain.
INTIMACY:— In To Me See Who do you allow to make deep cuts in your private world?
1 Corinthians 4:17 (Message)
“There are a lot of people around who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong, but there aren’t many fathers willing to take the time and effort to help you grow up.”
Too much information without heart formation.
1 Corinthians 4:14-17 NKJV
“I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. …”
“…Therefore I urge you, imitate me. For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is h.”
Benefits Of Being Mentored:
1. You Will Hear The Truth
Vs.14 “not to shame you, but to warn you”
A Mentor is secure enough to tell you the truth.
Don’t want you to miss the mark.
2. You Will Experience Love
Vs.14 “…you as my beloved children.”
Genuine love pours themselves into another.
The whole experience is wrapped in LOVE.
3. You Will Engage Consistency
Vs.16 “So I urge you to imitate me.”
Not as much instruction as it values and spirit.
You can’t recreate in someone else what you don’t possess.
Hear for yourself. Equip you to hear … you don’t need to be dependant on me … watch how I lean on God!
4. You Will Be Sent Forward
Vs.17 “That’s why I have sent Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord.”
Equipped and launched into your destiny.
The joy is seeing you engage your purpose.
5. You Will Have Secure Foundations
Vs.17 “…remind you of how I follow Christ Jesus,…”
You will be grounded in what really matters.
Who you are is more is important than what you do.
6.You Will Safeguard Your Future
Vs. 21 “Which do you choose? Should I come with a rod to punish you, or should I come with love and a gentle spirit?”
We need people who will contend with you if your future is at risk.
Discipline!
