Re-cap

Zecheriah’s Song: God’s light would invade the darkness.

Angel’s Song – God knows you, sees you, and to you and to the whole world, He says “peace and good will toward you.” And the sins of the whole word though like scarlet, through the lamb of God born that day and announced to those shepherds, are now white as snow.

Intro to Mary’s Song!

Maybe what it sounded like: (probably not!)

Or 0:00 – 0: 44

Luke 1:46-55  (NIV)

 And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

Mary’s pumped… but you will notice in her song that she doesn’t point to any fantastic thing she has done to qualify herself to be a God-carrier. She recognized herself to blessed, graced!

Pastor Karl Thomas:  “God chose little places, little people, little things, and he seems to have entrusted himself in such a way that is so vulnerable and he’s still doing it…Its still the plan that God invades our lives, He fills us, he touches us, and then through us one by one he manifests the goodness of God through us. Thats why we’ve really got to get this message, we really gotta understand what God has done for us. We really gotta live out of the reality of who we are as children of God.”  Pastor Karl – Angel’s Song.

Mary got it!

Mary’s Song: A back story!

Luke 1:28-38

“The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Strong’s Concordance
charitoó: to make graceful, endow with grace
Original Word: χαριτόω
Transliteration: charitoó

HELPS Word-studies
“…highly-favored because receptive to God’s grace.”

But,

Luke 1:29-30
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.

Don’t be troubled by the announcement of grace!
The angel goes on:

Luke 1:31-33 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

So she hears this and says wow: “How will this be?

Have you ever asked God how? How is this promise or that promise is going to come to pass in your life?

Here’s the answer!

Luke 1:35
“The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

Same Greek word overshadow is the word used for when Peter’s shadow healed people.

episkiazó: to overshadow
Original Word: πισκιάζω
Transliteration: episkiazó

HELPS Word-studies
properly, “to cast a shadow on; overshadow”

Acts 5:15 (NIV)
15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.

Then the angel says:

Luke 1:36-37
Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”

No word from God will ever fail!

Mary’s response: Luke 1:38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Or in other translations: “Let it be unto me according to your word.”

Let it be to me according to your word. He said it, I believe it. But not in a brainless way but in a way thats like; “hey, I’ve done the calculation and I am convinced, I am persuaded, I have reasoned that God can and will accomplish what he said he would, and I for one am I going to believe it.”

Mary’s Song shows us she believed!

2 Corinthians 4:13 (NIV)
It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak.”

Romans 10:10(NKJV)
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Christmas is a miracle and its filled with joy and peace in believing!

Romans 15:13 (NKJV)Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:46-49
My soul does magnify the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour for he has looked wth favour…and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
