Luke 22:31-32
“And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
Mark 14:66-72
“Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth.”
68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.
69 And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, “This is one of them.” 70 But he denied it again.
And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, “Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.”
71 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this Man of whom you speak!”
72 A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.”
Luke 22:60-62
“Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly.”
Babe Ruth
In 1923, Babe Ruth broke the record for most home runs in a season. He also broke the record for highest batting average. In 1923, Babe Ruth struck out more times than any other player in Major League Baseball.
“As we look over Peterʼs life as a disciple, we see him as both a saint and sinner, a spiritual giant and spiritual dwarf. But in the end, we are touched and encouraged, because he is so much like us. He is everyman wrapped into a single person.
Heʼs the reflection of our secret ambitions fulfilled and the picture of our visible embarrassments revisited. Yet at whatever point we see him in the span or spectrum of his exploits or his flops, whether at a pinnacle or a pratfall,…
Peter inevitably ends up at the right place, showing the right attitudes and aiming in the right direction en route to the right goal.” Jack Hayford
John 1:42
“And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, ‘You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephasʼ (which is translated, A Stone).” JESUS SEES THE REAL YOU!!!
Luke 5:6-8
“…they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking … filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesusʼ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
Matthew 14:29-31
“So He said, ‘Come.ʼ … Peter … he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, ‘Lord, save me!ʼ And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?ʼ”
Matthew 16:16, 23
“Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.ʼ”
“But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.ʼ”
Matthew 17:4
“Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.ʼ”
John 18:10
“Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priestʼs servant, and cut off his right ear. The servantʼs name was Malchus.”
Luke 22:51
“But Jesus answered and said, ‘Permit even this.ʼ And He touched his ear and healed him.”
John 21:1-15
“Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘Itʼs the Lord!ʼ When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore … After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter…
1 Corinthians 15:46
“What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later.”
How loving of Jesus to feed Peter before He dealt with his spiritual needs. He gave Peter opportunity to dry off, get warm, satisfy his hunger, and enjoy personal fellowship with the Lord.
John 21:15-19
“…ʼSimon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?ʼ … (3xʼs) ‘Feed My sheepʼ … carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”
Peter canʼt get past this … he returns to the things he left behind … move to land of regrets and if only.
JESUS — PETER I NEED YOU … I HAVE PURPOSE FOR YOU

“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, ‘Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words … those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.”
