#263 What Not To Wear Series# 10, Sword Of The Spirit

Ephesians 6:10-13  “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities,…”  “…against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

wrestle:— (pal’-ay) a contest between two in which each endeavours to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to hold his opponent down with his hand upon his neck.
Romans 16:20 “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.”

Mankind is to protect (shamar) the eternal purpose of God and to once and for all put the KIBOSH (kabash) on His enemies!!!  In our contending with the devil we have a command to Stand and a command to Wrestle.

Ephesians 6:14-17  “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all,…”

“…taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word (rhema) of God;”

Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV) “…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”
(AMP) “…and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.”
The sword of the Spirit is the excellent use of the Word of God under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sword (machaira) Ma Har Ah:– a small double edged sword used for cutting and thrusting, hand to hand combat.   Some historians say that the double-edged sword was such a radical new invention in warfare that it had the effect of a nuclear bomb in their time.  An instrument of great fear to the enemy.

Logus:— a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea

“Logus”  Hebrews 1:2 “…has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…”
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
2Timothy:2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

First enemy attack is Word of God.  Genesis 3:1 “And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said,…”
1 Samuel 13:19 “Now there was no blacksmith …land of Israel, for the Philistines said, “Lest the Hebrews make swords or spears.”
Mark 4:15 “Satan come immediately and takes away the word.”   seed is the word of God

Hebrews 4:1-2 “…but the word (logus) which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”   Logus alone will not profit you!
Hebrews 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word (rhema) of God.”

Rhema:– a Word of faith spoken or uttered, a specific operative, all powerful Word or command of God in the mouth of a spiritual person at the time they need it.    

Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds (rhema) from the mouth of God.’”

Luke 1:37-38 “For with God nothing (no rhema) will be impossible… Let it be to me according to your word.(rhema)”

The Word of God was written so that it might be spoken.
2 Corinthians 4:13  “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak,”
Jeremiah 1:12 (AMP) “…for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.”

Joshua 1:8  “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”   

Psalm 103:20 (AMP)  “Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His commandments, hearkening to the voice of His word.”
Mark 11:23-24 “…believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.”
“say” (lego):– to speak, to command, to direct, to point out with words.

The righteousness that entered my heart through faith desires to speak.
The recreated righteous spirit on the inside of me desires to speak and bring forth the rule reign of God’s kingdom in my life.

Romans 10:8-10 “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The Word Protects: Defensive
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two- edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, … discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart,That I might not sin against You.”

James 1:22-24  “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.”

The Word Attacks: Offensive
Acts 5:20 “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”
Acts 10:44 “While Peter was still speaking these words (rhema), the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.”
Acts 11:14 “words by which you and all your household will be saved.”

Lamentations 3:19-23 “Remember my affliction and roaming, The wormwood and the gall. My soul still remembers And sinks within me. This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

1 John 5:18 (NLT)  “We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.”  Devil take your hands of my child!!!

Isaiah 58:11  “The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden,…”  This hip is restored in Jesus Name!!!

Philippians 3:13-14  “…but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
