#255 What Not To Wear Series# 2, “Ascribed Glory”

Ephesians 6:10-13 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, … take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,…”

The Kingdom of God is eternal but DOMINION is generational.
Acts 13:36 ”For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep,…”
Psalm 115:16 “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men.”

Genesis 1:28 NKJV “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
TLV “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the land, and conquer it.”

“Subdue” (kabash) :— conquer, subjugate, bring into bondage, force, keep under, subdue, bring into subjection. Kibosh :— to eliminate, terminate “Put the Kibosh on that!”

Mankind is a part of the eternal purpose of God to once and for all put the KIBOSH on all evil!!!
The devil wasn’t going to just sit back and let this happen … He attacked God’s plan right away.

Genesis 3:4 “Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’”

Satan’s challenge to Adam and Eve was, how do you become Godly.
The fruit of self was introduced to mankind. INDEPENDENCE
We have the ability to now determine what is right and wrong. We will self govern! We will determine HONOUR

Genesis 3:7-8 “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings …”

“…And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”
God is going to kill us!

Genesis 3:10 “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” F ear — I don’t trust you. I gnorance — I don’t know you. G uilt — I’m no good.
SIN DID THIS NOT GOD! SIN BRINGS DEATH AND SEPARATION MISSING THE MARK GLORY OF GOD

Revelation 12:11
“And they overcame him (accuser) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
katēgoreō:— to make an accusation we get the word category he is a labeller, classification

Guilt is connected to behaviour. Shame is linked to identity.
I behaved a certain way therefore I am a bad person. I am broken and devalued.
Brought dishonour on myself.

Every person wants to be valued! Honoured!!! I am significant have purpose!!!
Where the concept of honour has been corrupted shame begins to dominate.
Romans 12:10
“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;”
Eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil brought sin and death into the world.
A culture of judging, condemning and comparison.
Love alway honours and brings value to a person.

1 Samuel 16:7 “For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

2 Types Of Honour:
1. Achieved Honour — Based on my ability to perform at a certain level.
2. Ascribed Honour — ascribe righteousness, to someone by virtue of a similar quality in another.
Christ’s righteousness has been imputed to us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
God dealt with the sin problem, once and for all, so that we could have restored righteousness.

John 8:1-11 Woman brought naked to His feet “When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?’ She said, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.’”

Luke 19:1-10 A man rejected and despised “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house. … Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

John 4 I must go through Samaria … WHAT!!! “For you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; … The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, ‘Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?’ Then they went out of the city and came to Him.”

Biblical Honour is ASCRIBED. Psalm 62:7 “In God is my salvation and my glory;”
kaw-bode’:— glory, honour, dignity, reputation.

Isaiah 55:5 “Because of the Lord your God, … For He has glorified you.”

John 17:22 “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:”
Romans 8:30 “Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

John 5:44 “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?” The religious people wanted to kill Jesus because he changed all the rules.

John 1:29 “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

Genesis 3:21 “Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.” Blood was shed!”
Hebrews 9: “…not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins
JESUS HAS YOU COVERED

People who base there relationship with God on there performance are only as free and satisfied as they are able to sustain their performance or … They become players (hypocrites) … My honour is gone if my performance is gone (we frame others that way as well … Give them glory and then we take it away because you failed us)
