What Not To Wear Series# 1, “Put The Kibosh On That!”

Ephesians 6:10-13
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

I thought the devil was defeated. Why do I have to engage the enemy?
Colossians .2:15 “…he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
Hebrews 2:14 “…he might destroy him who holds the power of death–that is, the devil”

1 John 3:8  “The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].”

The New Testament also says:
Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.
2 Corinthians 2:11 “… lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of
his devices.”

John 17:15  “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”
1 Peter 5:8  “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Why do we have this battle?
Why did God allow the influence of evil after the cross?

Judges 3:2  “It was only that the generations of the Israelites might know and be taught war, at least those who previously knew nothing of it.”  

Love Brazilian restaurants  … Had to walk past a favela (SLUM) … I went by there with a whole different sense of awareness of my surroundings … you are in a war zone 

Fate … Bad luck … or God controls it all   NO NO NO … Satan is going about seeking whom he may devour … YOU MUST BE AWARE OF THE NATURE OF YOUR STRUGGLE!!!

The Kingdom of God is eternal but DOMINION is generational.
Acts 13:36 “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep,...”
Psalm 115:16 “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; But the earth He has given
to the children of men.”

Genesis 1:28 NKJV  “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
TLV “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the land, and conquer it.”

“Subdue” (kabash) :— conquer, subjugate, bring into bondage, force, keep under, subdue, bring into subjection.  Kibosh :— to eliminate, terminate  “Put the Kibosh on that!”

The Hebrew verb, kabash, means to “subdue” or “bring into subjection.” Starting from our position of being blessed by God and knowing Him. He used the term, and He intends it to contribute to “good.” Subduing – putting the kabash on—the earth, as God planned, would be the result of the man and woman having “dominion” over it.
Mankind is a part of the eternal purpose of God to once and for all put the KIBOSH on all evil!!!
The devil wasn’t going to just sit back and let this happen … He attacked God’s plan right away.

John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”
HIS BASIC TOOL IS DECEPTION. Everything is rooted in His lies!!!   

Genesis 3:4 “Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’”

Satan’s challenge to Adam and Eve was, how do you become Godly.
The fruit of self was introduced to mankind. INDEPENDENCE
We have the ability to now determine what is right and wrong. We will self govern!

Genesis 3:7-8  “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings …”

“…And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”
God is going to kill us!

Genesis 3:10  “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
F ear — I don’t trust you.  I gnorance — I don’t know you. G uilt — I’m no good.

Genesis 3:21 “Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.”
Blood was shed!
Hebrews 9:7 “…not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins

Matthew 16:17-19  “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church,…”
 “…and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” RESTORED TO REIGN!!!

The choice remains for every person: Who do I trust?  Who is in CONTROL?
God doesn’t want to control you.  He wants you to live your life with Him as your source … open heaven.

John 10:10  “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The essence of all spiritual warfare is to stay in Christ Jesus!
Romans 13:14  “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
Romans 12:21  “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
