Isaiah 45:22 “Look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.”
John 3:14-15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Numbers 21:8 “…and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”
Acts 3:4-7 “…Peter said, ‘Look at us.’ So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them … ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’ … lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.”
Two Greek words for “LOOK”.
eidō:— to look, to perceive with the eyes.
blepō:—to turn the thoughts or direct the mind to a thing, to consider, contemplate, to look at, to weigh carefully, examine; to gaze at in order to possess.
Acts 14:8-10 “And in Lystra a certain man … a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, ‘Stand up straight on your feet!’ And he leaped and walked.”
Mark 2:5 “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven you.’”
saw their faith … faith is the substance … Faith substantiates what you see in the unseen realm.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Luke 13:10 “Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.”
What was Jesus teaching?
Matthew 4:23 “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”
Luke 13:11-13
“And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. Faith is a miracle magnet!
SYNAGOGUES Had a separation between men and women … often balconies … lattice works
She is bent over in the balcony behind a lattice work
She knows everyone by there shoes and messy feet
Luke 13:14-15 “But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?”
Sadly religion always gets mad when people get healed.
Luke 13:16-17 “So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath? And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.”
“Being” (on):– being. Present participle … it is active … at work right now.
I want to be a believer. I am being a believer.
Galatians 3:7-9 A Daughter of Abraham
“Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.”
Romans 4:17-18 (MESSAGE)
“We call Abraham “father” not because he got God’s attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody…. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway,…”
“Ought” (dei):– a necessity of law and command, of duty, equity necessity established by the counsel and decree of God.
Jesus was legally bound to release this woman form her affliction.
There was a heavenly obligation to fulfill.
Isaiah 45:22
“Look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.”
