Galatians 2:20
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live IN the faith OF the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Colossians 3:3 “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Gravity … The Law is Perfect
You rise above because you are in Christ … Exercise a higher law
Adding anything to Jesus in order to be accepted by God threatens the very freedom of the church.
Galatians 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
Galatians 5:4 “…you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.”
Galatians 3:1 “Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you?”
Have you folks lost your minds! Did someone perform witchcraft on you or give you the evil eye!
Baskaino:— bewitch, cast a spell, the evil eye.
- 3-4 “How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?”
Enarchoma:— In the beginning.
Epiteleo:— To finish, perfect.
John 19:30 “It is finished.”
John Piper
“Faith is the only response to God’s Word which makes room for the Spirit to work in us and through us. Flesh, on the other hand, is the insubordinate, self-determining ego …”
“…which in religious people responds to God’s Word not with reliance on the Spirit but with reliance on self. It can produce a very rigorous morality, but it nullifies grace and removes the stumbling block of the cross.
John Bunyan (Pilgrims Progress)
“One day, as I was passing into a field, this sentence fell upon my soul, ‘Your righteousness is in Heaven.’ And I thought with all I saw, with the eyes of my soul, Jesus Christ at God’s right hand. ‘There,’ I say, ‘was my righteousness,’ so that wherever I was, or whatever I was doing, God could not say of me, ‘He lacks righteousness,’ for that was just before Him. I also saw moreover that it was not my good frame of heart that made my righteousness better, nor yet my bad frame that made my righteousness worse. For my righteousness was Jesus Christ, Himself. “Now did my chains fall off my legs indeed. I was loosed from my afflictions and irons, my temptations fled away, and I went home rejoicing for the grace and love of God.”
Galatians 3:7
“Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.” NKJV
“The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God.” NLT
“Know and understand that it is [really] the people [who live] by faith who are [the true] sons of Abraham.” AMP
“…so, you see, those who believe are the descendants of Abraham.” NRSV
Galatian 3:10-29
Paul shows the Gospel was there all the time … It was always God’s plan to deliver by Faith!
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”[e] 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”[f](HAB 2:4) 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”[g]
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”[h]), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: (You know how hard it is to break a will — Even man made covenants cannot be changed by a third party … that simple)
Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. 16 Now to Abraham and his Seed Singular were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,”[i] who is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul That deal was made and you cannot change it the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ,[j] that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
What is the Purpose of the Law?
19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
AMPLIFIED verse 20
“Now a go-between (intermediary) has to do with and implies more than one party [there can be no mediator with just one person]. Yet God is [only] one Person [and He was the sole party in giving that promise to Abraham. But the Law was a contract between two, God and Israel; its validity was dependent on both].”
God took you out of the picture and he covered all ends of the agreement. He cut the agreement in Himself by giving His only Son.
In a promise God said I will take care of your part and my part!!!
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, (Law does 2 things 1. Puts everyone in prison bondage) that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
(2. pedagogue … Guardian and protector form six to adulthood … temporary Until seed comes … or until you accept by faith the work of CHRIST!)
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Dawn Blessing … Still prayed by conservative Jews … Part of Boys Bar mitzvah
“Blessed are you O God, King of the Universe, Who has not made me…” and conclude, respectively, “a goy [Gentile],” “a slave,” and “a woman.”
Paul who was a devote jew is clearly referring to this Dawn Blessings
29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
The law says: Do this. The gospel says: Accept this
This is not a systematic way to make your life better.
This is not how to be more moral, more good. It’s not the point.
The point of Christianity is you can’t do that, and your need is not for a better life; your need is for a new life.
PROMISE!!! Holy Spirit
Not only are you looking to the righteousness of Christ in Heaven as the basis by which you stand before God, but the righteousness of Christ, the Spirit of Christ is actually put in your heart to radically change your life now – not from the outside in, but from the inside out.
At the New Covenant Meal Jesus gave a New Commandment.
John 13:34
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
