No False Advertising—“Satisfaction Guaranteed”

Two things I love about the intro of this Psalm:

1. We find David is giving himself a pep talk…
Do you ever talk to yourself? Say YES because you all do.

2. The tone of David’s self talk- he is encouraging himself in the goodness of God
How does David encourage himself… by remembering?

Have you ever forgotten something? I am infamous in my home for forgetting Birthday’s, anniversaries, or an important appointment, or where I place things.

DO NOT: Forget-ignore, forget, cease to care-

What are we to remember …THE GOOD THINGS

False ads are so prevalent that the Federal Trade Commission has developed a list of tips, phrases and marketing techniques that will help you spot a phony health claim. Be wary if:
•    The product is advertised as a quick and effective cure-all for a wide range of ailments.
•    The promoters use words like scientific breakthrough, miracle cure, exclusive product, secret ingredient or ancient remedy.
•    The text utilizes impressive-sounding medical terminology used t disguise a lack of good science.
•    The promoter claims the government, the medical profession or research scientists have conspired to suppress the product and keep it out of the marketplace.
•    The advertisement includes undocumented case histories claiming amazing results.
•    The product is advertised as being available from only one source.
•    Payment is required in advance.

Funny women are trying to shrink parts and men are trying to extend parts … Crazy mixed up world.

But in our family the biggest culprit in false advertising is found on Menus in Restaurant’s.  Karl  is notorius for ordering the picture on the menu only to be sorely disappointed and dissatisfied…Server checks in & asks how is your meal…to which he replies I want the picture.
What is Dissatisfaction?

Jeremiah 15:18-21Amplified Bible (AMP)

With God SATISFACTION IS ALWAYS GUARANTEED and he does not have to resort to false advertising to prove it.
There is nothing false about what JESUS promises us…His life and ministry were demonstrations of God’s healing, deliverance, freedom, joy, life, satisfaction.

Lets Read Psalm 103:5 (ESV) “who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s”.
In this verse David extols 3 THINGS:
1.    Our Extraordinary condition- we are satisfied
2.    Our Extraordinary provision- we are supplied
3.    The Extraordinary effect – we are renewed

1. OUR EXTRAORDINARY CONDITION – WE ARE SATISFIED

Dissatisfaction  always searches for the nearest exit sign.

The Hebrew word for satisfy is “ Savah”
The KJV translates Strongs H7646 in the following manner: satisfy (47x), fill (25x), full (15x), plenty (2x), enough (2x), satiate (1x), sufficed (1x), unsatiable (1x), weary (1x).

People sometimes use satisfy and satiate synonymously
There are actually subtle differences between satiation & satisfaction* : whereas satiation is more often used to described being overfilled or overfed- past the point of satisfaction- to the point of glut or repletion – or to the point where there is no longer a pleasure in what once seemed desirable.

And, conversely, satisfaction implies appeasement- to be satisfied is to be pleased, or content, or fulfilled. Satisfaction is indicative of an ending of a desire or a longing, due to the act, or a sense, of fulfillment. The desire has been satisfied, therefore the desire is no more.

It is only the favour and grace of God that can give satisfaction to a soul, can fit its capacities, supply its needs, and answer to its desires.; other things will overfill over feed  but not satisfy.

Two things about this Satisfaction David speaks of:
1.  It is not the result of my works or achievement this satisfaction is based purely on the work of God.
2. He satisfies right to the core of my being… my soul— David says… Bless the Lord oh my SOUL

Isaiah 58:11 (AMP) “And the Lord shall guide you continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not.”

Psalm 107:9 (KJV) “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness”.

Isaiah 55:1-3 (KJV) “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.  Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David”.

Psalm 104:28 (NLT)  “You open your hand to feed them, and they are richly satisfied”.

Psalm 145:16 (AMP) “You open Your hand and satisfy every living thing with favor”.

2. OUR EXTRAORDINARY PROVISION- GOOD THINGS

Hebrew word- “tove”- good, pleasant, agreeable, prosperity, welfare,

James 1:17 (ESV) “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change”.

1 Timothy 6:17 (NLT) “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment”.

Mathew 6: 1“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing… 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

GOOD THINGS- forgiveness, healing, redemption, crowning

3. THE EXTRAORDINARY EFFECT- YOUTH IS RENEWED

The Hebrew word is “Khadesh”- make new, cut/polish like a sword–renew your youth so that like an eagle…

The eagle is one of the most Majestic Birds- used in folklore mentioned over 30 times in the bible as a model for our lives.

Eagle facts- Monogamous, same nest each year, weigh up to a ton, share nesting duties, and provision duties, notorious wanders until they reach maturity where they return to the general area of their first flights to nest

A) Wing span of over 7 feet, over 7000 feathers
•    Quick- reach speed of over 45 mph— even greater in a 75 a dive
•    Great heights- over 10,000 feet some suggest 30,000 feet
•    We like the eagle can soar rise above our circumstance and get a heavenly perspective
•    We like the eagle who moults to restore its wing capabilities we too can be renewed day by day.

B) Eye sight— Eagle eye
•    7 times better than human vision
•    can see it prey over a 3 sq miles
•    has both binocular and monocular vision- happen simultaneously
This eagle eye allows me forward vision (not stuck in the past) and monocular vision (side ways) which allows me the ability while focused on my goal

Youth- child hood like and adolescent–Disposition & Perspective both horizontally and vertically.
Satisfies: me, my life, my desire, my soul, mouth Read
KJV Translation Count — Total: 14x
The KJV translates Strongs H5716 in the following manner: ornament (11x), mouth (2x),
He ornaments me with good things so that my youth is renewed….
My life is ornamented
We are God’s Ornament to be displayed through out the universe for all of eternity
